Greg Biffle brought the crowd, but Greg Walters brought
the show.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup star originally from Brush Prairie,
Wash., made his second appearance at the Jon Miller Memorial
Race sponsored by Irontech Saturday night at Sunset Speedway
and won a 10-lap exhibition.
Walters, of Banks, won the main event for the Coors Light
Crate Motor Class from the 12th starting position. Full

Branden Lindberg faces a long tow every race weekend from
his home in Monroe, Wash., down to his home track of Sunset
Speedway in Banks, Oregon.
The crate model driver had a long way to go again Saturday
night in winning the OR-Cal Open - Firecracker 150 Sponsored
by Airgas.
Lindberg, driver of the No. 88 car, won his first main event

Schram was bound to break through.
Schram, last year's Super Sport champion at Willamette Speedway,
joined brother, Jerry, as an A-Main event winner Saturday
Night in Coors Light Crate Engine Late Model Series action
this season.
Schram, starting the main event in the seventh position,
took the lead on the 10th lap and was out front for the
remaining 30 revolutions around the 1/4-mile clay oval,
holding off brother, Jerry, and third-place Eric Sayre for

MAYEA WINS BUD I-5 RACE AT GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY:

Rob Mayea's patience paid off.
After seeing John Duty rocket away with the lead on lap
18, Mayea bided his for 10 laps then the driver out of Bend
rode the high way around the 3/8-mile clay oval of Grays
Harbor Raceway into the lead and pulled away to the Bud
I-5 Challenge Series win.
For the 2004 Bud I-5 champion, it was his second straight
series win at the track. The last was in 2005, the last
time the series raced at the ultra-fast speed plant.
Polesitting Lisa Stroup took the initial lead for the 50-lap
A-Main and paced the first three laps until Albany driver
Todd Shandy went around the only female driver in the field
on the outside of turn two and took over the lead. The fast
cars made their way through traffic and Mayea moved into
the top five on lap seven. Full

Everything is falling into place for Eric Sayre.
The driver from Vancouver, Wash., assumed the lead with
14 laps to go Saturday night when Greg Walters' car went
dead and won Saturday night's 50-lap Rose Festival Dirt
Cup at Banks' Sunset Speedway Park.
Sayre also took over the Coors Light Late Model points lead
with 301, three better than Jerry Schram and 11 more than

Scott Puncochar showed the visitors how to race at Sunset
Speedway Park.
The late model driver from Hillsboro took the lead with
nine laps to go and held off several determined charges
to win the main event labeled "The Prelude to the Shoot
Out."
When the Warriors of Dirt late model race scheduled for
this past weekend at Coos Bay Speedway was cancelled due
to rain on Thursday, Jerry Schram reached out with an olive
branch, welcoming the cars of the competing crate model
series to race at Sunset Speedway Park. Full

SCHRAM PICKS UP SECOND CARRIER VICTORY AT SUNSET SPEEDWAY PARK:

Jerry Schram was having a solid run.
The veteran driver from Vancouver, Wash., had worked the
No. 16 Schram Excavating late model from 15th to second
halfway through Saturday 50-lap Coors Light Late Model main
event on the 1/4-mile clay oval that is Banks' Sunset Speedway
Park.
Destiny had a different idea.
Greg Walters of Banks lost his 3/4-lap lead when an ignition
wire came off of the No. 97 car with three laps to go, handing
the lead over to Schram, and Schram checked out on the final
restart for his first crate late model. Full

SS started on the outside of the second row and went on to win
his second straight Warriors of Dirt crate motor late model main
event Saturday night May 10th at Cottage Grove Speedway.

WINS AT THE GROVE:
Greg Walters
picked up his fourth main event win of the early 2008 season Saturday
night April 12th at Cottage Grove Speedway. Not surprisingly the
2007 Pacific Coast champion driving a crate motor late model was
able to hold off and win against the local drivers competing in
much larger open motor cars. This was also the first race of the
new Warriors of Dirt crate motor touring late model series.

28th & 29th Dirt Late Model Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
After the completion of Friday nights race the plan is for the
team to pull out of Vegas and head west to Bakersfield, but a
last minute team decision learning of a race at Perris Speedway
- Perris, California. Thursday night update - 50
dirt late models entered Thursday night's race, Greg qualified
his Rayburn 3rd in his session, bad luck bit during his heat race
and Greg cut down a left rear tire after getting together with
another car. Greg went onto win his B-Main qualifier race which
transferred him into the A-Main event were he ended up finishing
10th. Friday night update - 44 late
models entered tonights race, Greg finished 2nd in his heat race
and finished 11th in the A-Main. Saturday March 1st. - Perris
Speedway, Perris California - 20 car field, Greg won his heat
race and went onto win the 25-lap A-main event.

WALTERS
PICKS UP THIRD TITLE ON PACIFIC DIRT LATEMODEL SERIES:

Coast Fastrak DirtCar Series by Bill Poehler
- Greg Walters of Banks, Oregon won five Pacific Coast
Fastrak DirtCar Series race on his way to his third series championship
in three years and fifth of his career.
Walters collected 1076 points on his way to the title by 56 points
in the 12-race series for crate engine dirt late models.
He won three races at his home track of Sunset Speedway, one at
Madras Speedway and one at Cottage Grove Speedway.
Walters was thousands of miles away on weekend the season's championship
two-day race driving one of the Warpaint house cars for Dusty
Moore and had crew member Willie Sutton drive for him.
Rookie Scott Puncochar of Hillsboro finished second in series
points with 1,020, winning the Rose Festival Dirt Cup in early
June at Sunset and the season finale at the track.
Steve Suckow of Hillsboro, winner of the first race of the season
at Fallon, Nevada., finished third in points in his rookie season
with 986.
Youngster Branden Lindberg of Monroe, Washington had his best
points finish to date in fourth with 918.
Terry Ferrando of Salem was one of the most improved drivers in
the series, finishing fifth in points after winning three of the
season's final six races, including the $3,000 to win race at
Sunset August 25.
Rounding out the top 10 were Jerry Schram of Vancouver, Washington
in sixth with 904, Jason Johnson of Gresham in seventh with 888,
rookie Kevin "Pork Chop" Rogers in eighth with 884,
Robby Ireland of Banks in ninth with 734 and rookie Billy Workman
Jr. of Canby in 10th with 690.
There were 23 drivers who competed in the series this season.
